OBLIO is an artwork comprised of two specular elements: two balloons, identical in form and state of deflation, each subjected to a different form of pressure. The piece explores the concept of losing lightness and spontaneity, representing how society and life shape human beings through various forces.
The first balloon, made of concrete, is crushed under the weight of a golden mirrored sphere. This sphere symbolizes illusions, societal expectations, success, and appearances. Instead of uplifting, its weight transforms and immobilizes, stripping the balloon of its original lightness and rendering it a rigid, inert object.
The second balloon, golden and reflective, retains its lightness, but bears the imprint of a concrete hand on its surface. This pressure represents responsibility, awareness, and experience: a weight that leaves an indelible mark, yet does not negate the intrinsic nature of being.
