Iconostasis chap. I

Sacredness is the Algorithm

An essential architectural element of the liturgy, separating the earthly from the divine; the Iconostasis, the place where icons are not merely observed but venerated.

Today, that wall is a screen. We scroll, we watch, we follow; our iconostasis is the feed, our icons are profiles, our saints have millions of followers.

ICONOSTASIS – Chapter I arises from this historical shift: from religious devotion to digital devotion. Every era constructs its own system of worship, and if yesterday gold reflected the light of God, today the light is the backlit glow of the device. If yesterday hierarchy was established by the sacred, today it is determined by the algorithm.

The algorithm decides who appears. Who rises. Who disappears.

ICONOSTASIS does not simply represent images: it stages the system that makes them objects of faith; the body becomes an altar, the surface becomes a liturgy, the material becomes a declaration.

Because the sacred has not disappeared. It has merely changed platforms.
