OBLIVION is a work composed of two mirror-image elements, two identical balloons
in shape and state of deflation, each subjected to a different form
of pressure. The work explores the concept of loss of lightness and
spontaneity, representing how society and life shape human
beings through different forces.
The first balloon, made of concrete, is crushed by the weight of a golden mirror
sphere. This sphere represents illusions, social expectations, success
and appearance. Instead of lifting, its weight transforms and immobilizes, depriving the
balloon of its original lightness and making it a rigid and inert object.
The second balloon, golden and reflective, maintains its lightness, but bears on its surface the imprint of a concrete hand. This pressure represents responsibility, awareness and experience: a weight that leaves an indelible mark, but which does not negate the nature of being.
